About our campaign.

Let’s Build Ontario is a campaign to advocate and promote equitable solutions that encourage rental housing development, while also maintaining the economic diversity and historical significance of our neighbourhoods.

The Issue

Municipal and provincial governments often struggle to agree on effective housing policies to tackle the housing crisis and meaningfully increase supply. It’s a sticky web of overlapping interests and concerns. There are a range of important issues, which can be difficult to solve for, including ensuring economic diversity within neighbourhoods, maintaining the historical and cultural integrity of communities, and helping people stay in the places they grew up in. But with all of these considerations, there’s one principle everyone can get behind: everyone deserves a quality place to live.

Let’s cut red tape.

Breaking down barriers and reducing red tape that holds back the construction of new housing will go a long way in reducing or levelling off rental prices in Ontario. Long and uncertain approval timelines for building permits, costly fees and councils in stalemates slow the pace of new development, significantly. Predictably, it all results in fewer new homes, all while the pool of people looking for homes continues to grow, which leads to rising prices.
